Maha government to hold consultations with Sikh scholars
The Maharashtra government has decided to hold consultations with Sikh organizations and scholars before introducing proposed legislation governing the management of Takht Sri Hazur Sahib in Nanded.
BJP leader R.P. Singh said the decision followed discussions with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, during which concerns raised by the Sikh community were presented. The government will form a committee to consult stakeholders and Sikh scholars before the bill is tabled in the state legislature.
The proposed law would replace the existing 1956 Hazur Sahib Act, a move that prompted opposition from Sikh religious leaders, who have expressed concerns over the shrine's religious autonomy.
