Congress observers to meet Punjab leaders to work on election strategy

Three senior Congress leaders appointed by party president Mallikarjun Kharge to assess the political situation in Punjab will begin meetings with state party leaders in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Punjab Congress is riddled with factions with all the senior leaders positioning themselves a the Chief Ministerial faces.

The observers — Ajay Maken, Meenakshi Natarajan and Bhajan Lal Jatav — are scheduled to meet members of Parliament, current and former legislators, district presidents and other party officials over the next three days.

The consultations are aimed at gathering feedback on the party’s organizational and political affairs in Punjab before a report is submitted to the Congress high command.

The Congress party which remained in power from 2017 to 2022 is trying hard to win the state assembly elections in Punjab where they feel their position is good. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Congress managed to win 7 out of the 13 Lok Sabha seats in the state which instilled confidence in the party cadre.
