Delhi’s ‘poor’ air becomes worse
Delhi’s air quality slipped back into the “very poor” band, with Central Pollution Control Board-run stations showing AQI readings above 300 at multiple sites. Delhi government’s Graded Response Action Plan is on, which means there are targeted curbs on construction and also entry of diesel trucks. Health authorities have issued advisories for children and seniors, asking them to stay indoors.
The government is blaming it on seasonal factors as well as stubble-burning in Punjab and Haryana, while urban emissions are also a big factor. Hospitals have reported upticks in respiratory complaints.
