The X handle account of satirical digital collective Cockroach Janata Party was withheld in India on Thursday, prompting the group to launch a new social media handle titled “Cockroach is Back” with the tagline “Cockroaches Don’t Die.”

The original account, known for its political satire and viral social media content, became inaccessible to users in India earlier in the day.

Soon afterward, a new account under the name “Cockroach is Back” appeared on X, quickly gaining traction online.

Speaking on the development, the group’s founder, Abhijeet Dipke, said the team had anticipated action against the account.

“We were already expecting something like this because there were attempts yesterday to hack our account as well,” Dipke said. “But this is a self-goal by the government.”

Dipke said a new account had already been launched on X under the name “Cockroach is Back” and added that the team would pursue the matter through legal channels.

By about 6 p.m. Thursday, just hours after it was launched, the new X handle had reportedly crossed 39,000 followers. The account also renewed calls demanding the resignation of India’s Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Meanwhile, the group’s popularity on Instagram continued to grow. As of Thursday, the Cockroach Janata Party’s Instagram account had more than 10.9 million followers, surpassing the 8.7 million followers of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party on the platform.
