11 Indian vessels cross Straight of Hormuz
India’s Ministry of External Affairs said Tuesday that 11 Indian-linked vessels have safely transited the Strait of Hormuz since the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at easing tensions in West Asia.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ranadhir Jaiswal said India continues to closely monitor developments in the region following the agreement and the subsequent easing of U.S. sanctions on Iranian oil exports.
Speaking at a media briefing, Jaiswal said 10 Indian-flagged vessels remain in the Persian Gulf region, while two additional ships have recently arrived. Since the agreement was signed on June 17, 11 vessels have passed through the strategically important waterway.
