Building on its goal to enhance recreation facilities, the City of Delta continues to make significant investments in Parks, Recreation, & Culture amenities throughout the community.

At the June 15,  Regular Meeting, Delta Council received a comprehensive update, outlining the full scope of investments made by the City in the past few years, as well as those on track for future delivery. The update highlighted a total of $209 million in investments, including new parks, sports facilities, playground enhancements and more, as well as the Winskill Renewal Project currently under construction. 

“We know that access to high-quality recreation facilities is a priority for our community, and we are pleased to see continued expansion and enhancement of these vital amenities,” said Mayor George V. Harvie. “The City is incredibly proud of the work that has already been completed, and we look forward to seeing a continued focus on delivering spaces for people to build connections, get active, and experience all that our community has to offer.”

Summarizing recently completed projects, the update listed several significant facility upgrades throughout Delta, including track and field projects in both North and South Delta. Other completed projects include the new Mackie Park Synthetic Turf and expanded North Delta Recreation Centre Accessible Playground, among others. 

As for projects currently in progress, the most high-profile mention was the replacement of aging Winskill Aquatic & Fitness Centre. The $130 million project is well underway and projected to open in 2028. The update also mentions the ongoing Ladner Waterfront Revitalization, Annieville Park Renewal, and Kensington Bike Park.
