India to start special flights to bring stranded people home from middle-East
The Government of India on Tuesday announced that Indian airlines have revised their schedules amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and are planning to operate 58 flights on March 4 .
The decision has been taken to facilitate the safe return of stranded Indian passengers and restore essential connectivity. Of the 58 flights, 30 will be operated by IndiGo, while 23 flights will be run by Air India and Air India Express.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation said that due to the closure of airspace in several countries affected by the conflict, 1,221 flights operated by Indian airlines and 388 flights by foreign carriers have been cancelled so far. In response to the evolving situation, flights are now being operated through alternate routes to avoid high-risk areas.
The government added that it remains in constant coordination with Indian embassies and foreign aviation authorities to ensure the safety and smooth evacuation of passengers.
