Indian's Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said Wednesday that the union government had estimated a total expenditure in the fiscal year 2016-2017 to 53.47 lakh, which is around 7.7 percent as compared to the previous year.
She said that the government will spend Rs. 12.2 lakh crore on the basic infrastructure which will be around 4.4 percent of the Gross Development Product (GDP). She also added that the government is working to reduce the deficit by 2031.
While replying to Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi's allegations that the PM had sold the country to the USA, referring to the trade deal between both the countries, the union minister said that 'Nobody can sell the country' (Koi mai ka lal paida ni hua jo desh ko bech de).
