WB CM turns lawyer in SC

West Bengal Chief Minister (CM) Mamta Banerjee Wednesday appeared in the Supreme Court (SC) and fought her own case on the Special Intensive Review (SIR) of the voter lists in the state. Banerjee- a trained lawyer, questioned the process of updating the voter lists and highlighted many discrepancies. The state is due for the elections this year.

There was a bitter fight between the ruling TMC and the BJP in the state in the previous elections which were won by the TMC with a huge margin. BJP, however, managed to make its ground in the state which is one of the most important states in the country.
