PPCC President Warring booked for making objectionable comments on former union minister
Punjab police Tuesday booked Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) President
Amrinder Singh Raja Warring for making objectionable comments on former union minister Buta
Singh during an election rally. Warring, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) from
Ludhiana made objectionable remarks about Buta Singh’s skin colour and his profession and
attracted ire even from his own party colleagues.
The FIR against Warring was registered on the complaint of Sarbjot Singh Sidhu- a nephew of
Buta Singh who alleged that the Warring’s remarks were castiest and insulting. Acting on a
complaint lodged by Sarbjot Singh, Kapurthala police booked Warring under the relevant
sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and SC/ST Act.
Warring also landed in controversy after he made remarks against former President Giani Jail
Singh. Punjab assembly speaker and Jail Singh’s nephew Kultar Singh Sandhwa demanded
action against Warring who remarked that Giani Jail Singh was a ‘granthi’ (priest).
