Local authorities have launched an investigation following the desecration of a Gutka Sahib, a sacred Sikh prayer book, in Sakanwali village near Sri Muktsar Sahib.

According to residents, approximately 15 torn pages (angs) of the holy scripture were discovered scattered in a street near the main village Gurdwara, triggering widespread outrage and concern among the local Sikh community. Members of local Sikh organizations quickly gathered at the scene to collect and preserve the sacred pages in accordance with Sikh religious protocol.

Nirmal Singh, manager of Sri Darbar Sahib in Sri Muktsar Sahib, confirmed that a team responded to the village shortly after being informed of the incident. The recovered pages were respectfully transported to Sri Darbar Sahib for safe keeping.

Local police arrived at the site to assess the situation and are currently reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras to identify suspects. Senior Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Rana has ordered the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) and directed strict legal action against those responsible.

Local residents and religious leaders are calling on law enforcement to swiftly arrest the perpetrators to prevent further unrest in the region.
