Driver Issued 90-Day Driving Prohibition Following Rollover Collision on Veterans Memorial Parkway
On July 16, at approximately 3:28 p.m., West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Veterans Memorial Parkway near the Carindale intersection in Colwood.
Frontline officers attended and determined that a Ford F-150 had swerved off the roadway before striking the shoulder and rolling onto its passenger side. The 36-year-old male driver was extricated from the vehicle. He was examined by BC Emergency Health Services for non-life-threatening injuries
Officers observed signs and symptoms of impairment. The driver provided a breath sample into an Approved Roadside Screening Device, which resulted in a WARN reading.
As a result, the driver was issued a 3-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition, and the vehicle was impounded. During the investigation, officers also determined the vehicle was not insured. The driver was issued a violation ticket for operating an uninsured vehicle and received an additional 90-day driving prohibition.
“Impaired driving continues to put everyone on our roads at risk and is entirely preventable,” said Cpl. Nancy Saggar, Media Relations Officer for the West Shore RCMP . “This collision serves as a reminder that choosing to drive after consuming alcohol can have serious consequences. We encourage everyone to plan ahead and arrange a safe ride home if they have been drinking.”
