PM to visit Punjab on July 17
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Punjab on July 17. The assembly elections are due in the state in early 2027 and Modi's visit is seen as crucial as part of his party BJP's election strategy.
Speaking to reporters in Jalandhar, Union Minister of state for Railways and Food Processing, Ravneet Singh Bittu confirmed PM's visit to the state. Bittu also launched a sharp criticism of the makers of the upcoming film Satluj and actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh.
Bittu alleged that the film's producers were attempting to disturb peace in Punjab and said the government would not allow anyone to disrupt the state's harmony.
Targeting Dosanjh, Bittu claimed the actor had sent mixed messages by publicly asking pro-Khalistan supporters to leave his concerts while allegedly promoting what the minister described as an "extremist narrative" through the film.
