Penticton Couple to Travel the World After Scoring $75 Million Playing Lotto Max
Maureen and Darrell S. were relaxing at home, when they saw that someone in Penticton won $75 million from the April 7, Lotto Max draw. After checking their ticket online, Maureen and Darrell soon realized that they were the winners in question.
“I pulled the ticket out and the numbers were lining up,” recalled Darrell. “We manually referenced the winning tickets online but we needed to check at a terminal.”
The Penticton couple plan to celebrate with family and friends over an intimate gathering.
The pair describe themselves as “outdoorsy people” and are planning travel to various destinations, though nothing is confirmed yet. “We might rent a camper or maybe take a nice cruise around the world!” shared Maureen.
In addition to travel, the pair also add they will be philanthropic with their winnings.
“We will be setting a small amount aside for ourselves, and the remaining is allocated to specific charity organizations that are important to us.”
Darrell also mentioned Europe as a potential travel destination.
On how it feels to win the Lotto Max jackpot?
“We’re excited but experiencing every emotion imaginable,” said Darrell.
Maureen and Darrell completed their prize claim at BCLC’s Vancouver office on June 30, 2026.
The winning ticket was purchased at Smart Shopper on Main Street and Westminster Avenue West in Penticton.
So far in 2026, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $116 million from Lotto Max. Lotto Max is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Tuesdays and Fridays after 7:30 p.m. (PST).
