Punjab and Haryana High court orders Punjab to submit detailed report in Jhota murder case
The Punjab and Haryana High Court in India has ordered the Punjab government to submit a detailed status report outlining its response to the fatal shooting of an anti-drug activist in Mansa.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra and Justice Rohit Kapoor issued the directions while hearing a suo motu public interest petition, alongside a related appeal filed by Labh Singh.
The court has specifically requested comprehensive details regarding the demolition of any properties associated with the accused in the case, including the legal framework and procedures followed during any such action.
During the proceedings, legal counsel representing the appellants—including Senior Advocate Baltej Singh Sidhu, Advocate Himmat Singh Sidhu, Manat Khurana, and Arjun Singh—highlighted the fatal shooting of the campaigner and drew the court’s attention to various related incidents reported in the media.
