SPS Notifies IIO of Collision Involving a Motorcycle

Surrey Police Service (SPS) has notified the Independent Investigations Office (IIO) following a serious collision involving a motorcycle.

On August 7, 2026, at approximately 3:30 am, an SPS officer attempted to stop a speeding motorcycle near the Trans-Canada Highway and the 104 Avenue offramp.  The motorcyclist fled into oncoming traffic and collided with a civilian vehicle. The rider was transported to hospital by BC EHS for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries. No other persons were injured in the collision.

SPS informed the IIO of the incident and they have asserted jurisdiction.

As this incident is now under investigation by the IIO BC, no further information will be released by Surrey Police Service. Please contact the IIO BC with any inquiries.
