David Richard Morin is charged with manslaughter in relation to the stabbing death of Michael Smadu in East Vancouver on September 3, 2025.

Morin, 32, is currently in custody and made his first court appearance on the manslaughter charge June 12. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 3.

Officers were called to a home near East 6th Avenue and Fraser Street just before 1 a.m. September 3 for a man who had been stabbed.
