West Shore RCMP investigate sexual assault involving youth victim
The West Shore RCMP are actively investigating a report of sexual assault that was made to police on June 11.
The incident is reported to have occurred on June 9, at approximately 3:00 p.m. in the area of Jacklin Road and Station Avenue in Langford. There, a female youth was approached by an unknown adult male suspect at a bus stop who engaged the youth in a short conversation before sexually assaulting her.
While no physical injuries were reported in this instance, investigators recognize the significant emotional and psychological impact sexual violence can have on victims.
At this time, no similar reports of this nature have been reported.
The suspect is described as:
- Male between 30-35 years old;
- Average build;
- Approximately 5’8”;
- Brown “mullet” styled hair with light ends;
- Short facial hair.
The suspect was wearing:
- White t-shirt;
- Black pants with bright green numbers on each knee;
- Black running shoes with white soles and laces;
- Orange wrist band
"Investigators are working diligently to identify and locate the suspect involved in this incident. We are asking anyone who may recognize this description, have CCTV in the area, or who has any information that could assist the investigation to come forward and speak with police,” said A/Sgt. Meghan Groulx with the Serious Crime Unit. “We understand incidents of this nature are highly impactful and concerning for the victim and community. Identifying the person responsible remains our top priority and investigators are following up on a number of leads."
The investigation remains ongoing and police are canvassing the area. Police ask that anyone who may live in the area or have been in the area to please check their home surveillance / dash camera footage for June 9 between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. and contact the police if you believe you may have captured anything.
