More than 3,50,000 fans to visit Vancouver for FIFA World cup
More than 3,50,000 fans will throng Vancouver to watch the FIFA World cup matches starting next month.
BC's Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport, Anne Kang said, “Next month, British Columbia will step onto the world stage as Vancouver hosts the FIFA World Cup 2026, and the excitement is building in every corner of our province."
The minister added, “This is the largest single-sport event on the planet with a massive global audience. More than 350,000 fans will fill BC Place for seven unforgettable matches, including two Canadian men’s national team matches. But this moment is about more than what happens on the pitch, it’s about the energy, pride and opportunity it creates across our entire province."
“Right now, that energy is already taking hold. From the North to Vancouver Island, and from the Interior to the Lower Mainland, communities are gearing up to celebrate. Our government is proud to be supporting 32 celebrations throughout British Columbia, bringing people together to experience the thrill of the World Cup close to home, in ways that are inclusive, accessible and full of community spirit.
The minister further said,“We are especially proud that the seven FIFA World Cup 2026 matches are being played on the shared territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil‑Waututh First Nations. Visitors will experience the rich cultures, traditions and languages of these Nations, whose leadership and partnership are central to delivering a welcoming and meaningful World Cup experience. This is an extraordinary opportunity to showcase their stories, artistry and living cultures on a truly global stage."
