Punjab government reassign three portfolios after minister's arrest

The Punjab government had to reassign the ministerial portfolios after cabinet minister Sanjeev Arora was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in an alleged money laundering investigation.

Cabinet minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond has been given charge of the power department, Harjot Singh Bains, who is considered close to Delhi leadership will oversee the local government department, and Aman Arora has been assigned the industries department. Arora is also the president of the party in Punjab. 

The ED conducted raids at multiple premises linked to Arora over the weekend before his arrest. 

Before his arrest, Arora was handling all the important portfolios which reassigned on late Monday evening.

The ED has not yet publicly disclosed detailed allegations related to the case. Further investigation is ongoing.
