Track intrusion alarm forced temporary suspension of service on Expo line

A track intrusion alarm forced a temporary suspension of service on part of  Metro Vancouver;s Expo Line during the morning commute Tuesday, causing delays for transit in the downtown core.

TransLink said service between Stadium–Chinatown and Waterfront stations was halted shortly after 8 a.m., with trains turning back at Stadium–Chinatown while crews responded to the incident.

The disruption left the Canada Line and Millennium Line operating normally, but commuters travelling through the affected section of the Expo Line Faced interruptions during peak travel hours.

In an update issued at 9: 30 am, transit officials said the track intrusion had been cleared and trains were beginning to return to regular service at all stations. However, riders were advised to expect gaps and residual delays as operations normalized.

No details were immediately provided about what triggered the intrusion alarm or whether anyone was injured.

The incident began around 8:05 a.m. and remained in effect for more than an hour, with TransLink thanking passengers for their patience while crews worked to resolve the issue.
