Robbery suspect in police custody
A suspect is in custody following a daylight robbery at a financial institution in downtown Prince George, according to police.
RCMP say officers were called shortly after 10 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026, to a report of a robbery at a bank in the 700-block of Central Street West. Investigators say the suspect fled the scene with a small amount of cash.
Frontline officers arrived within minutes, where they collected witness statements and reviewed surveillance footage. Police quickly identified a suspect and located him at a nearby residence, where he was arrested without incident. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.
Police are also seeking information about possible evidence linked to the case. Investigators say the suspect may have crossed the street after the robbery and discarded a dark-coloured jacket or hoodie beneath a silver Honda parked in the 800-block of Central Street East.
“If anyone saw the article of clothing and picked it up or knows where it currently is, we are asking they speak with police,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, media relations officer with the Prince George RCMP.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation to contact the Prince George RCMP non-emergency line.
The investigation remains ongoing.
