Drivers on Vancouver Island are being advised of an overnight closure affecting a northbound exit off Patricia Bay Highway.

Transportation officials say Exit 18 from Highway 17 to Keating Cross Road will be closed from, April 20, from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, to allow paving work to be completed.

Motorists travelling northbound are asked to use Island View Road as a detour during the closure.

Officials are urging drivers to slow down in the area, follow posted signage and plan for additional travel time.

They add that further short-term closures may be necessary to complete remaining work, with advance notice to be provided through DriveBC and project updates when possible.
