Landlords are not allowed to execute the rent increase to tenants.

Effective immediately, the Government of British Columbia extended the freeze on rent increases until July 10, 2021.

“We know many renters are still facing income loss and even the slightest increase in rent could be extremely challenging. For that reason, we are extending the freeze on rent increases to provide more security for renters during the pandemic,” said Selina Robinson, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

Increases set to happen on December 01,2020 are cancelled with all the pending increases. Tenants who received a notice for rent increase after March 30, should disregard those notices and can carry on with preset rent until July 10, 2021.
