Ottawa: WestJet reached an agreement with its pilots at the eleventh hour to avoid a strike. The WestJet Group says it is trying to get all stalled operations back on track as soon as possible.

The airline is also saying that it will take some time for the operation to start completely. The company has also advised travelers to constantly check the status of their flight before coming to the airport.

On Friday morning, WestJet and the Airline Pilots Association announced the conclusion of the agreement. The airline’s operations came to a grinding halt due to non-conclusion of the agreement.

Due to the lack of this agreement, the airline’s routes to Canada, the US and other countries were affected. But WestJet Encore Regional Service and WestJet-owned Sunwing Airlines were not affected.

WestJet CEO Alexis von Hoensbroech said the agreement with pilots envisages improvements in job security and scope, as well as working conditions and allowances. “The good thing is that the agreement has come to an end,” he said.
