Ontario: Ontario’s health minister said on Tuesday that wearing a mask is everyone’s personal choice. This statement came a day after a prominent doctor in the province strongly recommended for masking indoors.
Health Minister Sylvia Jones, who was wearing a mask herself, said this while defending her majority progressive Conservative colleagues in the assembly. Most members of the PC party, including Doug Ford, were not wearing masks. Twelve others from the Tories wore masks, including the Speaker of the House. All members of the rest of the opposition parties were wearing masks.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore on Monday recommended to Ontario residents that masks must be worn in indoors considering the increasing number of patients in children’s hospitals.
At present, a large number of children are getting loose due to influenza and respiratory virus (RSV) and they have to be admitted to the hospital. Paediatric hospitals across the province are full of sick children with these viruses.
