Chandigarh: The Punjab Government has intensified the action against former CM Charanjit Singh Channi. After the ongoing investigation into the disproportionate assets case against Channi, an inquiry has now been initiated into the development works carried out during his tenure.
An inquiry has been initiated by the vigilance into the expenditure incurred on development works, especially in Chamkaur Sahib area.
The investigation team also visited Chamkaur Sahib and seized government documents related to the development work carried out there. Also, the grant distributed by Channi as CM is also being investigated.
The tussle between former CM Charanjit Singh Channi and incumbent CM Bhagwant Mann continues to widen further.
Pertinently, about 6 months ago, there were complaints of irregularities in the development work done in Chamkaur Sahib by the local councillors. Recently, the team led by Development Officer Chand Kumar Singla had investigated for about 6 hours. But no information was disclosed in this regard.
CM Bhagwant Mann recently accused former CM Channi’s nephew of demanding a bribe of Rs 2 crore from a Punjab player to give him a government job. He has given ultimatum to Channi till 2 pm on May 31 to disclose the matter. CM Mann warned to make the disclosure of the matter public.
