Haitians are searching collapsed buildings for survivors and the dead after the weekend’s massive earthquake.

Thousands of people in the quake zone have slept outside, clutching small transistor radios tuned to the news.

Officials have raised the death toll to at least 12-hundred-97, and thousands more are injured.

Also tropical depression Grace is predicted to reach Haiti tonight.

It is bearing down on Haiti with top winds of 55-kilometres an hour, bringing an expected 25-centimetres of rain to an area devastated by Saturday’s 7.2 magnitude earthquake.

The U-S National Hurricane Center is warning flash floods and mudslides are possible. The timing couldn’t be worse, with thousands of people left homeless by the earthquake.
