Washington: Same-sex marriage has been legalized in the US. President Joe Biden on Tuesday signed the bill to protect marriage equality after the US Congress approved gay marriage. After the signature of President Joe Biden, it has now become law, after which there is a wave of happiness among the LGBT community.

The Same Sex Marriage Bill was passed by a vote of 258 vs. 169 in the US House. 39 Republican lawmakers also gave their support to this bill.

Signing the gay marriage bill, President Joe Biden tweeted, “Today is a good day. Today, America takes another step toward equality. Toward liberty and justice not just for some, but for all. Because today, I sign the Respect for Marriage Act into law.

Safety for gay couples will be ensured.”

He further said that Marriage is a simple proposition: who do you love? And will you be loyal to the person you love? It’s not more complicated than that. The Respect for Marriage Act recognizes that everyone should have the right to answer those questions for themselves.

The US House on Thursday approved a bill to protect gay and interracial marriage. After the Senate passed the same bill by a 61-36 vote last week, the House voted for “Respect for Marriage Act”.

In a statement at the White House, Biden said the passage of the bill will provide peace of mind to LGBT communities and interracial couples, who are now guaranteed rights and protections.
