Chandigarh: The Punjab government on Saturday assured all possible help to evacuate two Punjab youths after they were detained in the Indonesia on the charges of murder.

NRI Affairs minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal today visited the house of both youth and met their family in Ajnala. He said that state government is in constant touch with Indonesia authorities and tries their best to rescue the youth as soon as possible.

According to the information, Gurmej Singh and his cousin Ajaypal Singh aspirant to go to USA, had agreed to pay Rs 35 lakh to a travel agent for sending  them to US.

The family said that both boarded the flight from Delhi on May 5 and they reached in Indonesia and gave first installment of Rs 9 lakh each to travel agent.

Upon arriving in Indonesia, Ajaypal Singh called up his brother Akashdeep Singh and said that they were kidnapped in a house in Indonesia and has been beaten up by associates of the travel agent and they were demanding more money for their release.

On May 13, a fight erupted between the agents and youth over money and they manged to flee from the house and reached the Bali. They desperately made several calls to the family members and the kin booked their return ticket from Bali to New Delhi. However, at the airport they were arrested by the local police on the charges of murder.

Meanwhile, if found guilty, youths can also be sentenced to death or life imprisonment.
