Ottawa: The Canadian Dental Care Program (CDCP), launched recently, is making changes to encourage more dentists to participate. Initially, 11,800 dentists joined through Sun Life Financial.
Now, dentists can get reimbursed for each patient visit without formally joining the program. This change aims to make it easier for both dentists and patients.
The program started for seniors 70 and older but now includes seniors 65 and up, adults with a Disability Tax Credit, and children under 18. Over two million people are approved for coverage, with nearly 250,000 seniors already treated.
CDCP covers services like cleanings and fillings, paying more if your family earns less. But, it doesn’t cover everything, and some may pay more for other services.
These updates try to make Canada’s dental care better for everyone.
