Chandigarh: In a shocking incident, unidentified assailants chopped off a leg of a Sikh granthi and took it with them in Tarn Taran district of Punjab. The victim is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Amritsar. At the same time, the police say that strict action will be taken against the attackers.

Granthi has been identified as Sukhchain Singh. Police are scanning CCTV footage in and around the incident site.

Tarn Taran SSP Gurmeet Singh Chauhan said that Sikh granthi Sukhchain Singh was returning to his home in Khadoor Sahib. During this, some unknown people attacked him. The attackers chopped off his right leg and four fingers of one hand with a sharp weapon.

After this, the attackers took the amputated leg with them and the fingers were found near the spot. SSP said that in the initial investigation, it seems that the case is of mutual enmity. But nothing can be said clearly right now. He was made the granthi of the Gurudwara of Banian village six months ago.
