Chandigarh: A three-storey building collapsed at Kharar in Mohali district on Saturday evening. The accident took place in Sector-126. A showroom was being built and place is near Nijjar Chowk. The roof of the first building collapsed, due to which the entire building collapsed.
Work was going on on the third floor of the building when it collapsed. According to the information, 11 workers were buried under the building. All of them were rescued during the rescue that lasted for about 2 hours.
Fire brigade and NDRF teams reached the spot in time. The rescue operation continued for a long time. The injured were rushed to Mohali Phase 6 Civil Hospital and PGI.
An eyewitness named Tarun said that the building collapsed in front of them. After which a crowd gathered here.
The private builder was building a showroom here. The work of the construction was going on the third floor when the building collapsed.
At the same time, a crowd of local people gathered on the spot and they also cooperated in the relief work. Local shopkeepers said that the building suddenly collapsed with a loud explosion. During this time excavation work was also going on in the adjacent plot.
