Chandigarh: As soon as cabinet minister Meet Hayer left the function held at the treatment plot here, a clash broke out between two parties of Aam Aadmi Party workers. The police had to resort to lathicharge to control the situation and disperse both the sides. During this time, one youth from both sides was injured, who has been admitted to the Civil Hospital.
According to the information, when the government function ended at the inspection of the treatment plot on Palahi Road in Phagwara, the faction of Aam Aadmi Party worker Joginder Mann’s son Harji Mann and the faction of Santosh Gogi clashed with each other.
Following this, police officials restored to lathi charge at the spot to disperse both the sides. After the lathi-charge by the police, the crowd gathered there was shattered. Police rushed the injured to the civil hospital, including Jagjit Singh alias Sabi, belonging to the Santosh Gogi faction, and Lovely Sharma alias Mantri, who belongs to the Mann faction.
According to the information, Sabi was earlier close to Joginder Singh Mann and his son Harji Mann. Due to some reason, their relations got bitter. Sabi alleged that persons belonging to the Harji faction attacked them as after the government event.
Meanwhile, in the clash between the two sides, the youth belonging to the Mann faction was injured, while Lovely Sharma alleged that the Sabi group first abused and beat him up. DSP Jaspreet Singh himself took stock of the situation. The injured are undergoing treatment at the civil hospital. The police have recorded the statements of both the parties.
