New Delhi: Two FIRs have been filed against Wrestling Association of India president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh by Delhi Police. The FIR mentions 10 cases of molestation and sexual harassment against Brij Bhushan.
In this, Brij Bhushan has been accused of pressuring players to have physical relations with him. The players have said that Brij Bhushan molested them on several occasions.
The complaint includes touching inappropriately, trying to put a hand on the breast under any pretext and moving the hand from chest to back, stalking. The wrestlers had lodged a complaint against Brij Bhushan at Connaught Place police station on April 21. After the wrestlers went to the Supreme Court, the Delhi Police registered two separate FIRs on April 28.
Both the FIRs, filed on April 28, have cited IPC sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking) and 34 (common intention). The charges carry a jail term of one to three years. The first FIR includes charges against six adult wrestlers. It also names Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) secretary Vinod Tomar.
The second FIR was lodged on the complaint of the father of a minor. This is under Section 10 of the POCSO Act, which provides for a punishment of five to seven years. The incidents mentioned in the FIR allegedly took place in different parts of the country and abroad from 2012 to 2022.
