Toronto: Three persons have been charged during an ongoing investigation into the murder of a Punjabi-origin man in Oakville that also left a female victim with life-threatening injuries.
According to the police, on August 19, 2022, around 1:00 a.m., Halton police in the Belt Lane and Littlefield Road area in Oakville were called in with reports of gunshots. Police officials found two persons in an injured condition on the spot, one of whom was a man and a woman.
While the man was declared dead on the spot, the woman was rushed to the trauma centre with serious injuries, police said. Several miscreants from the area were also seen sitting in the vehicle and fleeing.
The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Arman Dhillon of Alberta. The woman accompanying Dhillon survived during the shoot but her condition was very critical.
Halton police said three men were arrested on Tuesday with the help of peel and Hamilton investigators. They have been identified as Joseph Richard Whitlock, 30, of Pickering, Karan Veer Sandhu, 29, of Edmonton and Kulvir Bhatia, 25, of Calgary.
Deputy Chief Jeff Hill said it was a heartbreaking incident for the local residents. The three suspects have been charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder.
