Chandigarh: Former Punjab minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, who is embroiled in a tender scam case, has got a big relief from the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday.

According to the information received, the High Court has granted regular bail to former minister Bharat Bhushan in the tender scam.

Bharat Bhushan Ashu had filed a petition seeking regular bail in the FIR lodged against him by the Vigilance in Ludhiana on August 16.

Pertinently, the Vigilance had registered an FIR against Bharat Bhushan Ashu on August 16 in connection with the multi-crore transportation tender scam in the Food and Supplies Department. Later, he was arrested.

Ashu was remanded in judicial custody after being remanded for eight days in the case. Ashu had now filed a petition in the high court seeking regular bail in the case, which has been approved.

However, he will not be released from the jail amid other pending cases against him including corruption case.
