New Delhi: A total of 11 people including 10 policemen and a civilian were killed in a Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district on Wednesday, police said. The personnel belonged to the District Reserve Guard (DRG) unit.
Their team was going to rescue the security forces trapped in the rain. Meanwhile, the Naxals blew up the vehicle of the policemen in the IED blast.
The attack took place between Aranpur-Sameli in Aranpur police station area of Dantewada district. According to sources, there has also been an encounter between the police and the Maoists here. During this encounter, the Naxalites threw a bomb on the vehicle.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has expressed grief over the attack. “My condolences to the families of the martyrs. Naxals will not be spared.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that all possible help will be given to Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel.
Congress MLA from Bijapur Vikram Mandavi’s convoy was attacked by Naxals a week ago. The vehicle in which Zila Panchayat member Parvati Kashyap was sitting was hit by bullets. They escaped the attack unhurt.
