Chandigarh: In the Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) attack case in Tarn Taran, the Punjab police have bought up some close aides of Canada based terrorist Lakhbir Landa on production warrant from different jails for questioning.
In another development, police have also found a CCTV footage of a dhaba where attackers were seen hatching the conspiracy a few hours before the attack.
Along with this, the police have also intensified efforts to trace 2 more RPGs allegedly smuggled by gangsters from Pakistan.
According to the information received, the planning of the Tarn Taran blast was prepared by gangsters sitting in Goindwal jail. All of them are henchmen working for gangster Lakhbir Landa.
Recently, Landa’s henchman Ajmeet Singh, who killed a textile trader from Tarn Taran, was arrested. But now his name has also surfaced in this case. Apart from this, five more people, including Manpreet Manna and Nachtar Singh, have been brought on production warrants by the Tarn Taran police.
Information about the arrest of 4 accused
The police have arrested four accused in the case. Two of them are from Tarn Taran, who provided motorcycles to the accused to fire RPGs. Two others who assisted in Tarn Taran have also been arrested. But the police are not yet sharing additional information about them.
Intelligence agencies received information about 4 RPGs being smuggled to India. Harvinder Singh Rinda, a slain terrorist in Pakistan, had already sent them before the Mohali attack. Two of which have been used in Tarn Taran and Mohali. 2 RPGs are still unused. But these two RPGs have not yet reached the hands of sleeper cells, sources in the intelligence said.
Officials said that according to the inputs RPG were hidden by a smuggler in the areas adjacent to the India-Pakistan border. The search for which has now been intensified.
