Port Alberni: RCMP is investigating a shooting that left one person injured.

The RCMP said officers responded to a report of a man who was shot in a back alley in the 3000 block of 4th avenue in Port Alberni on Friday.

RCMP officers contained the area and talked to the witnesses at the crime scene. The male victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“The investigation is still within its early hours and investigators from Port Alberni RCMP General Investigation Section, Police Service Dog and Forensic Identification Section are assisting frontline officers,” said Corporal Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the BC RCMP.

The RCMP said initial information gathered is leading investigators to believe it was a targeted attack.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Police are looking for an older model black Dodge pickup truck, which was seen leaving the area at the time of the incident.
