Surrey: Solicitor General Mike Farnworth says the latest legal challenge by the City of Surrey to retain the R-C-M-P is nothing more than a delay tactic.
Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke announced a constitutional challenge against the province over its move last week to suspend the police board and accelerate the transition to the Surrey Police Service.
Farnworth says the only thing the city’s latest challenge does is waste taxpayers money.
Locke quipped that it wasn’t a Surrey Police Service but and N-D-P police service, a comment that Farnworth says is a cheap political shot and denigrates both police departments working in the city.
