A tax hike in the city budget for the upcoming year leads two Surrey  city councillors to quit a committee.

Jack Hundial and Brenda Locke, both city councillors quit the Parcel Tax Review Committee in protest.

The tax is tied to a ‘’parcel’’ of property and remains the same regardless of its value. This tax is separate from the property tax. Currently, the parcel rate per year is $100 and is proposed to increase to $300 in next year.

Brenda tweets  “sad day for (Surrey) taxpayers,”.
