New Delhi: The Supreme Court today expressed displeasure over the Centre’s delay in clearing the names recommended by the collegium for appointment of judges to the top court, saying it failed the manner of appointment.

Justice S.K. Kaul and Justice A.S. Oka’s bench said the time limit has to be adhered to.

Meanwhile, the apex court also expressed displeasure over Law Minister Kiren Rijiju’s statement that if the supreme court collegium feels that the government is sitting on hold of its recommendations, then it can issue a notification on the appointment of judges on its own.
