Quebec: The case of the bodies of six people found in the St. Lawrence River by a marsh area near Akwesasne, Quebec, on Thursday afternoon is being investigated by the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service.

The Acquisition is located close to the U.S. border. Police said the first body was found around 5:00 pm. He said the Marine Unit, along with the Coast Guard and the Hogansburg Acquisition Volunteer Fire Department, carried out an inspection in the area and found five more bodies.

The Acquisition Mohawk Police said in a release that they would need the help of the Quebec Provincial Police and the Ontario Provincial Police for further investigation.

Police said they were awaiting the results of post-mortem and toxicology tests to ascertain the cause of the deaths. It also said that they were trying to identify the bodies and ascertain their status in Canada.
