Amritsar: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Amritsar President and Sangrur MP Simranjit Singh Mann on Friday objected to passengers travelling in flights after wearing a ‘janeu’, a white scared thread for Hindus.

Issuing a statement here, Mann, avowedly a Khalistani supporter, said that he has objection to anyone travelling wearing a ‘janeu’ as a Sikh, he can travel wearing a Kirpan but recently an objection has been raised on it.

He said he was not allowed to go to Parliament with a Kirpan.

He said that Janeu can be made by using dangerous Chinese door and become an threat to safety of passengers on the flight.

Sangrur MP said that if kripan is banned, then janeu wearing should also be banned on flights.

Meanwhile, Janeu, is a sacred thread worn around the shoulder by generally Brahmin community.
