According to New York police, a Sikh man was shot and killed on Saturday near his home.

31-year-old, Satnam Singh was reportedly sitting inside a black Jeep Wrangler Sahara near 129th St. and Sutter Ave. in South Ozone Park when someone approached and started firing rounds into the vehicle at about 3:45pm.

Singh was shot in the neck and torso. He was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Neighbours say the shooter was driving a silver sedan when he shot Singh, however, police say he approached the victim on foot. No arrests have been made as of Sunday.

There were three incidents of alleged hate crimes against elderly Sikh men in Richmond Hill which sits next to South Ozone Park.The first incident involved the assault of a 70-year-old man on April 3, while the second incident involved the assault and robbery of two men — aged 76 and 64 — on April 12.
