New Delhi: Deepak Mundi, the sixth shooter who shot dead famous Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, has been arrested by the police near Nepal border today.
Punjab Police in a joint operation with Delhi Police and central agencies arrested Deepak Mundi and his two accomplices Kapil Pandit, Rajinder have also been nabbed. All of them were nabbed from the West Bengal-Nepal border.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said that this success has been achieved in the intelligence-based operation. Deepak Mundi was also the shooter of the Bolero module.
At the same time, Kapil Pandit and Rajinder Joker helped hideout and provided him weapons.
With this, now 4 out of 6 shooters nabbed and 2 were killed in encounters by the Punjab Police.
Moosewala was murdered by 6 shooters who came in Corolla and Bolero modules on May 29.
Of these, the leaders of the Bolero module, shooters Priyavart Fauji, Ankit Sersa, Kashish alias Kuldeep, were also caught by the police. Likewise, Corolla module shooters Jagroop Rupa and Manpreet Mannu were killed by the Punjab Police in an encounter in Bhakna village near Attari in Amritsar.
Lawrence’s brother and nephew also detained
Police said that Lawrence gang conspired to kill Moosewala on the directions of Canadian-based gangster Goldy Brar. Lawrence’s brother Anmol and nephew Sachin Thapan were also associated with Goldy.
Sachin Thapan has been detained in Azerbaijan and Anmol in Kenya. The process is underway to bring these two to India.
First chargesheet of 1850 pages against 24 people
Moosewala was murdered in Jawaharke village of Mansa on May 29. In this case, the police have submitted a charge sheet against 24 murderers in the Mansa court. It also has details of shooters Mannu and Roopa killed in the encounter. Gangsters sitting abroad now include Goldy Brar and Lipin Nehra. At the same time, 166 witnesses have been made in this charge sheet. After Mundi’s arrest, the police will soon present a supplementary challan.
