Amritsar: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami on Wednesday rejected the election of office-bearers of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (HSGMC), alleging that it was all government’s agenda aiming to weaken the SGPC.

He said that the Sikh community will not accept any such government committee and will continue to oppose it.

The SGPC president said that a separate Haryana Gurdwara Committee being formed forcibly with the intervention of anti-Sikh ideological forces and governments was not in the interest of the Sikhs.

Dhami said that this is a ploy to break the Panthic institutions, towards which the apprehensions expressed by the Sikh community have been made true by the election of its office-bearers by the government today.

He said that this election was conducted by the Haryana Government at the deputy commissioner’s office in Kurukshetra instead of Guru-Ghar, which proves that the Haryana Committee has no connection with panthic concerns, but it is being formed under the direct intervention of the government.

Advocate Dhami said, “We had said earlier too that the Haryana Gurdwara Committee is a member of the RSS. BJP government in Haryana wants to take Sikh issues directly into their own hands and run it according to their intentions, but the history of the Sikh community is that it has never tolerated government interference.”

Dhami called on Sikh leaders from Haryana to join hands together against nefarious agenda of RSS and Bharatiya Janata Party, and said that they should show national unity for the safety of their institutions established with sacrifices made by various Sikh personalities.
