Chandigarh: In the meeting of the Internal Committee of the SGPC today, it was decided to launch the Sikh body’s own YouTube channel, launch a country-wide signature campaign from December 1 for the release of the detained Sikhs, stop the unnecessary use of siropa in SGPC gurdwaras and educational institutions and celebrate the martyrdom day of Sahibzadas as ‘Sahibzade Martyrdom Day’ instead of Veer Bal Diwas.
The inter-committee has decided to put a complete ban on recruitment in the SGPC for the next six months. SGPC chief said that only temporary labour can be employed as per the requirement at large joint fairs.
The meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Committee was held at the SGPC headquarters, which was chaired by Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami. Divulging details of the decisions taken in the meeting, Advocate Dhami informed that it has been decided to run a YouTube channel with 24-hour services to take various functions of the SGPC to the sangat on a regular basis. Action is also underway to start a channel with live telecast of Gurbani.
He said that a nationwide signature campaign has been outlined for the release of Sikh prisoners, under which an active campaign for their release from December 1. Proforma will be filled along with educating the ‘sangat’ about the cases of Sikh prisoners and the punishments underwent. In Punjab as well as in other states, the Sikh missions of the SGPC and gurdwara committees will reach out to various states.
In particular, in Punjab, proformas will be filled by organizing camps at gurdwaras, educational institutions, railway stations, bus stands, important intersections of cities and towns. After completing the work of filling the proforma, the entire SGPC members will stage a one-day protest in Chandigarh and all the proformas will be handed over to the Governor of Punjab.
