Toronto: Although the work of removing snow from the roads has started after the snowstorm, most public and Catholic schools in the GTA have canceled school buses.
The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) and the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) said on Thursday that school buses have been cancelled but schools will remain open.
The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) said Hamilton’s public schools would remain closed due to inclement weather, although Catholic schools in the city would remain open.
Snow warnings are still in place in many parts of the Greater Toronto Area, even after up to 14 cm of snow in Ontario on Wednesday.
On Thursday morning, Environment Canada said it had lifted snow warnings from Toronto and the city’s western areas, but several roads were still slippery after the snow and work was underway to clear the roads. Snow warnings are still in place in several areas east of the GTA.
